Etihad Airways, the national carrier of the United Arab Emirates, continues to meet growing customer demand by announcing increased flight frequencies to several vital destinations across the Middle East and the Indian subcontinent. This expansion signifies a nearly 27 per cent increase in weekly departures compared to last summer, enhancing connectivity and travel options for passengers.
The airline is ramping up flights to prominent cities such as Jeddah and Riyadh in Saudi Arabia, Amman in Jordan, Beirut in Lebanon, as well as Colombo in Sri Lanka, and Kolkata and Bengaluru in India.
Arik De, Chief Revenue and Commercial Officer at Etihad, highlighted the significance of these enhancements, stating, “These latest flight increases, aligned with our seamless and practical connections at Abu Dhabi and our growing global network, offer our guests more opportunities to fly where they want to at a time that suits them. It also makes it easier to enjoy a fantastic visit or stopover in Abu Dhabi as an integral part of their journey.”
The airline has announced some exciting changes to their flight frequencies that will be implemented starting from different dates. Jeddah will see an increase of 7 flights per week, bringing the total to 28 per week, effective from March 15, 2024.
The number of domestic and foreign travellers at 39 airports across Greece increased by 14 per cent compared to 2023, and 13.2 per cent compared to 2019. The number of flights was also up 6.8 per cent compared to 2019, CAA said. Tourism accounts for one in five jobs in Greece and makes up a fifth of its economy.
Riyadh will also experience the same increase of 7 flights per week, with a total of 28 per week, starting from March 15, 2024. Amman will have an increase of 4 flights per week, reaching 11 per week, starting from June 15, 2024. Beirut will see an increase of 2 flights per week, bringing the total to 7 per week, effective from June 15, 2024. Colombo is set to have an increase of 4 flights per week, reaching 17 per week, starting from June 15, 2024. Kolkata will have an additional flight per week, bringing the total to 8 per week, starting from June 15, 2024. Lastly, Bengaluru will have an increase of 3 flights per week, reaching 17 per week, effective from June 15, 2024. These changes are part of Etihad’s broader strategy to enhance its global reach and provide passengers with more flexibility and convenience in their travel plans.
