Air India to launch twice-daily flights on Delhi-London Heathrow aboard A350 aircraft, ET TravelWorld

Jun 28 2024

Starting on 1 September 2024, Air India will enhance the onboard experience for its guests on twice-daily flights between Delhi and London Heathrow by deploying its brand-new Airbus A350-900 aircraft. This route will mark the long-haul international debut of Air India’s flagship A350-900, which will replace the Boeing 777-300ER and Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner on 14 of 17 weekly flights, adding 336 additional seats weekly on the Delhi-London route.

With the introduction of the A350-900, 90per cent of Air India’s flights to London Heathrow will be upgraded. Since April 2024, Air India has been deploying its recently inducted Boeing 777-300ERs with enhanced cabin interiors on all flights between Mumbai and London Heathrow, reintroducing First class service, making Air India the only carrier to offer First class travel between the UK and India.

Campbell Wilson, Chief Executive Officer & Managing Director, Air India, said: “The deployment of our flagship A350s and the B777s with upgraded cabin interiors to London Heathrow marks a significant milestone for Air India. It demonstrates our commitment to elevating the travel experience of our guests to truly world-class standards and to going beyond just meeting customer expectations as we continue to renew our fleet.”

Air India 2nd Indian airline to offer Premium Economy cabin on narrow body aircraft

Starting from July 1, Air India will offer Premium Economy on select domestic routes. The new A320neo aircraft will accommodate 8 seats in Business, 24 in Premium Economy, and 132 in Economy. Another Tata Group airline Vistara was the first Indian airline to introduce Premium Economy cabin on domestic routes.

“With our industry-leading cabin products on the A350 including a new Premium Economy experience and a host of new on board enhancements rolling out, we are confident that these daily flights between India and London Heathrow will soon be the preferred choice for travellers,” Wilson added. The A350-900 will also introduce Air India’s Premium Economy class on the Delhi-London route, featuring 24 wide seats in a 2-4-2 configuration within a dedicated cabin. Passengers will also enjoy new amenities such as chinaware, tableware, glassware, bedding, and amenity kits designed by Ferragamo and TUMI for Business and Premium Economy guests.

Bookings for the A350 flights on the Delhi-London Heathrow route are now open on Air India’s website, mobile app and through travel agents.
