Akasa Air expands international reach with inaugural flight to Abu Dhabi, ET TravelWorld

Akasa Air, India’s fastest-growing airline, marked a significant milestone today by launching its inaugural daily direct flight from Mumbai to Abu Dhabi, further expanding its international network. The first flight departed Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport at 17:05 IST and is scheduled to arrive at Zayed International Airport in Abu Dhabi at 18:50 AST.

In a ceremony held at Mumbai’s airport, Akasa Air’s Executive Committee, along with leadership from Mumbai International Airport Limited, lit a ceremonial lamp and presented a special boarding pass to the first passenger, commemorating this historic moment.

The introduction of this route offers passengers a reliable, affordable, and seamless travel option between India and the UAE. Commenting on the launch, Neelu Khatri, Co-Founder and SVP International at Akasa Air, expressed her excitement: “We are pleased to commence operations from Abu Dhabi, the fourth international destination on our rapidly growing global network. This launch will strengthen air travel links between India and the UAE, providing affordable and convenient options for travellers.”

Praveen Iyer, Co-Founder and Chief Commercial Officer, highlighted the strategic importance of the new route: “Abu Dhabi is home to a significant Indian diaspora and offers unique tourist experiences. The city’s growing trade prospects also attract business travelers from around the globe. This expansion allows us to meet the increasing demand for air travel between India and the UAE with reliable operations and affordable fares.”

SalamAir launches inaugural flight from Muscat to New Delhi

The addition of flights to New Delhi represents a strategic step forward for SalamAir, aiming to meet the growing demand for affordable and convenient travel options. This route will enhance connections between Oman and India, benefiting the expat community, leisure travellers, and business professionals alike.

Belson Coutinho, Co-Founder and Chief Marketing and Experience Officer, emphasized Akasa Air’s commitment to service excellence: “We are excited to bring the Akasa experience to Abu Dhabi. The airline has also secured traffic rights for Kuwait and Medina, and plans to further extend its international network

The airline now connects 22 domestic cities and four international destinations, including its latest addition, Abu Dhabi.
